Five years ago, October became somewhat of a milestone month in my life. When I look back, I’m amazed and very grateful for the time that’s passed since then. I can honestly say they have been some of the best years of my life. In October 2009, Kit and I got married, and we bought our first house together.
It was the first time in my adult life that I didn’t have to move to a new apartment every year. It’s been a wonderful space to create, and I couldn’t be happier doing it alongside my extremely supportive husband. Needless to say, the house quickly became centered around music. We finally had a place to collect instruments and keep our home studio permanently set up.
But it’s not the material stuff that comes to mind when I reflect on these past five years. It’s not the house, or the things that fill it. It’s the people that I’ve met, the relationships forged, and the experiences shared together. They’re things that no amount of money could buy, and I feel immensely rich for having them.
