I was looking forward to the weekend for multiple reasons. After work, Kit and I had a double dinner date at Riverbend, a Creole restaurant tucked away near the AB Brewery. Ever since my first visit to New Orleans last summer, I’ve been craving some authentic treats of the region. Oyster bread, and Crab Au Gratin followed by an Entree of Shrimp and Crawfish Étouffée did not disappoint. Outside dining at a sidewalk table added to the charm.

Next we headed to The Firebird music venue to see The Raveonettes. It was pretty packed, and we arrived to see an opening band from France that caught our fancy (Melody’s Echo Chamber). I was digging their dreamy electro pop, but the sound guy didn’t do the band justice live. Then the Raveonettes came up and delivered a solid show. I could physically feel the music coming at me. Their harmonies were spot on. The backing tracks didn’t bother me at all like I thought they might, but the people in the audience with their phones up in the air all night certainly did. I’ve been listening to the Raveonettes for about 6 years now, and I had a blast getting to see them live for the first time. Good food and music in one evening. What more could you want? Oh yeah, a brand new car.
